Like a wolf in the night, they crept up on their prey.
Scattered and scared, we were never prepared.
Now our homes lie in ashes, or rue for the day.

Red was the day and the clouds on the bay
They hung black and with menace, a mirror to the grave.
Woke to the horns so mocking and forlorn
And the screaming black arrows came down like the rain.

Black ones, raiders came out of the mountains like thunder that day.
Foul ones, killing and maiming our loved ones, with horror they came.
